Listed below are just a handful of the hundreds of hiking and backpacking destinations that are within the Highway 58 region. It is advisable to use USFS (United States Forest Service) or USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) maps while hiking. It is important to carry topographical maps (those featuring contour line, depicting elevations). The Visitor Maps for the Willamette National Forest and the Deschutes National Forest are very helpful, while hiking or driving the many Forest Service roads.
